Austin Botanical Garden

Goofy, goofy girl.

Austin Botanical Garden

This week's "field trip" was to the Austin Botanical garden. It was so pretty! And big. It's a park that's right in the middle of the city, and the park is like 7 acres, and there's tons of stuff! The science center we went to last week, the garden, barton springs pool, etc. It's amazing how nice the garden looks, especially because they're in the middle of a drought, and before we came down they had like 49 days where it was over 100 deg. But that's also a big part of the garden, is to teach what kind of plants and flowers are water conservers, and there's a whole section that teaches about compost. Anyway, it was a fun activity, and Emmaline really liked the flowers and ponds.

Imaginary Friend?

So a few weeks before we left Emmaline started playing with her first imaginary friend. That's right, Shan Yu, the bad guy from Mulan. Then about two weeks after that, Helaman joined the team. (She's been watching the weird Book of Mormon scripture cartoons.) So now the three of them play together often...each of them get an M&M for using the toilet...they take turns riding her rocking horse. Royce thinks she has authority figure issues. :) But we're doing really well in Austin...there are so many neat things for a toddler to do! Last week we went to the Austin nature and science center, and this week we're going to walk through the botanical gardens. Hopefully we can keep on schedule and have "field trip day" once a week. And we're having so much fun in our little apartment...it's great!!

Go Loooooonghorns!

We're in Texas now, and officially LongHorns! (I was looking for a picture of when Bobby was the longhorn mascot, but this will have to do.) More pictures to come.

"Build her a cake or something..."

I got the chance to make a wedding cake this week. Adrienne called and the person that was supposed to make her cake couldn't do it, so I got to make her cake. It's obviously not a professional cake, but I hope she liked it :) It's amazing what a beautiful topper and real flowers can do!
